Hansen Sets Himself Up!

Has he not learned anything?

Our good friend, Alan Hansen, commenting on the signing of David de Gea as the direct replacement for the retired Edwin van der Sar, is quoted as having said the following,

"The hardest person to replace in your team is always the goalkeeper. De Gea is only a young boy, so it will be very intriguing to see how he goes."

Shades of that famous moment the ex-Liverpool player made one of the biggest gaffs of all time by stating that "United would win nothing with a team of youngsters" the year we took the Premier League title!

Has he not learned anything?

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAAAAAAAA!!!!I can't think of anything else than this!

De Gea's a young boy and Hansen's still the same old fool.
Kanchelskis
De Gea's got the potential to be better than Van Der Sar.
TheFamousNo7
De Gea's a great keeper already and a few more years under his belt he will go on to be one of the best.

What are you all getting your knickers in a twist about? All he said was it will be intriguing to see how he goes. Here's a stat for you to mull over - David de Gea conceded more goals to shots from outside the area than any goalkeeper in LigaBBVA last season(Opta)
Bluedub
Heres a stat for you - Man City are ****
rooneyisgod
Haha thought provoking stuff RIG. Did you come up with that one all by yourself?
Bluedub
Yes, it took a few minutes but it finally came to me.
rooneyisgod
Well that's going to be the area of his game he's going to have to work on then bluedub. Also, have you seen Atleticos defense? Pi55 poor is almost complimentary in their case. Atleast whilst at United he can expect less shots from range due to a much more reliable defense closing the players down.
TheFamousNo7
i think this signing is a complete waste of good money that could have been spent on a world class midfielder.paying big money for a goalkeeper is ridiculous.
johnney handsome
didnt Taggart say Taibe was a ''world beater'' too? and where is he now?
cityman51
Waste of money? wtf, we needed a keeper we got one besides how much does a world class midfielder cost nowadays 30, 40 million.
Kanchelskis
I'm happy with the price we paid considering he could be with us for over 10 years.
