Gibson Departure Update!

Despite the newspapers inferring, at the weekend, that Newcastle were set to rival Sunderland for the signature of our Irish midfielder, Darren Gibson, the truth of the matter is that Sunderland remain the prime candidates for his signature.

Apparently, Sunderland remain the only north-east club to have lodged a bid, rumoured to be in the realms of 5 million.

But, it should be pointed out that there is still along way to go before the season starts or indeed the transfer window slams shut.

I think Sunderland is the right destination for him. It's more likely that he's going to get first team football there than most other clubs.
