De Gea Signing Almost Done!

The summer spending spree that has already seen us capture Phil Jones (Blackburn) and Ashley Young (Villa) will, almost certainly, see the third major signing of the summer put pen to paper today.

David de Gea, the highly rated Spanish U21 keeper, was in Manchester yesterday afternoon to have a medical as a prelude to securing a move from Atletico Madrid to Old Trafford.

Despite some comical attempts to mask the young keepers whereabouts, the tabloid press did capture, perfectly, some shots of De Gea entering the medical facilities with the six feet five inch keeper clearly visible above the white sheets that were being held up to mask his presence.

Quite comical really!

Haha! Great news he looks like a massive talent. What I don't understand though is why try and hide him?
TheFamousNo7
Excellent signing in my view, his talent cannot be questioned, all I hope is that he can adjust to the new surroundings and handle the pressure of being a UTD player.Keep it up UTD!!!
Antriksh (abmtd)
Thats a good question TFN7,hahaha.......
Antriksh (abmtd)
Is it true the deal won't be finalised until the 1st? I read somewhere that the deal will be finalised when his agent is back from holiday on the 1st of July which I personally think is a bit of**** take. I understand no-one should just drop what they're doing just for our sakes but when you're more than happy to be picking up agent fees and all that surely your priorities should be in getting the deal done.
TheFamousNo7
I think he signs a new deal with another agent on the 1st which is the problem he wants the agent fee's to go to his new one.
rooneyisgod
Oh right OK then, that's the last time I read the little bit of newspaper reports on BBC Sport then. I really got the wrong end of the stick there. Cheers for clearing that up rooneyisgod.
TheFamousNo7
wrong signing imo. He is only 20 and he needs to command the likes of Vidic and Ferdinand in front of him. You think he can?
blue_iceberg
Of course he can. Can Villas-Boas command the respect of players who are as old as he is, especially considering the circumstances of Ancelotti's departure.
Kanchelskis
It is slightly surreal how much he is like Van Der Saar, Eddy must of had a fling in Spain while on euro duty with Ajax. Van De Gea, Eddys love child, lets hope he is as good as Daddy.
Kanchelskis
Haha, brilliant Kanchelskis.
TheFamousNo7
Agree with TFN7,Kanchy that was fantastic!!!
Antriksh (abmtd)
Its official now,the deal is done, lets go marching on with red flag flying high!!!
Antriksh (abmtd)
Signed sealed delivered!!!
rooneyisgod
Who's next? Douglas Costa!! Well, for me anyway :P
TheFamousNo7
Apparently the bid for Nasri is coming. No talk what so ever about Costa. Hopfully we get the bll rolling on someone ASAP.
rooneyisgod
£17 mil was it? For a keeper? Well I never....market is all distorted. Just think U*d aren't even strengthening with this signing just filling a hole.
Bluedub
We should've spent 17 mil on Roque Santa Cruz :(
TheFamousNo7
Or perhaps £28mil on Veron, oh no sorry you've been there done that.
Bluedub
Or 31 mill on Robinho.
rooneyisgod
More records being broken, smashing the British GK transfer record which stood at £9 mil. tut tut
Bluedub
off* rather.
TheFamousNo7
British record is miles of the European one ;)
