Thaigo Alcantara Talk!

The red-top press is intimating that Sir Alex Ferguson may not be finished when it comes to the summer spending spree.

The inference being that Sir Alex is keen to lure the young Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara to Old Trafford.

Thiago, who scored a stunning goal as Spain emerged victorious form the recent European U21 Championships, is supposedly the target of a £15 million bid from United.

But the deal is a little complicated with Barcelona reluctant to lose the player for good even though he isn`t guaranteed a midfield start in their talented team.

There`s also the small matter of the player being mentioned in the same breath as being part of the Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona rumours, plus there`s also talk of Bolton Wanderers being involved in some sort of deal whereby he`ll go to the Reebok Stadium on loan for the season.

But perhaps the biggest stumbling block is that Barcelona want a 'buy-back` clause inserted in any possible purchase!

I get the impression that we may dip out on this one and the expression - what you get isn`t what you always want - springs to mind (but we could be wrong!)

If you guys look at twitter, you'll see that you got a 35 million bid accepted for Modric.
ACLamp
one for the future thats for sure. Him and David De Gea would help eachother settle.

Barca aren't stupid, well they were when they lost Pique and Fabregas in the first instance but I don't think they will let it happen again without some sort of fail safe.
TheFamousNo7
I say, we should spend our money on an experienced play-maker instead!

Twitter? If it was source you could trust I might be tempted to sign up to it but I think I will give it a miss. Can barely stand the whining and 8it(hing on facebook to be perfectly honest. If it weren't for friends I wanted to stay in touch with, as a lot are heading to different Uni's and some joining the army, I would've deleted my account yonks ago.

There is only one point you guys need to read and understand! Alcantaras preferred destination is Chelsea! http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/197948/Thiago-Alcantara-wants-a-career-Boas-t/
Blue_Mel
I notice there is no mention of Chelsea in your article. It must have slipped your memory..or could it be that like all Manchester fans you are slightly (lol) biased
Blue_Mel
I doubt there is any truth to this rumor, why would we buy a young promising midfielder, when we have got Cleverly and Pogba waiting..?
nordkap
dailystar? Haha! 'source added: “Thiago is frustrated because his path to the first-team is blocked by Xavi and Andres Iniesta. His minutes on the pitch are limited while they continue to pull the strings in midfield, and Chelsea is his favoured destination if he decides to leave."' You can't seriously be buying that. Source can many anyone in journalism. Anyway, the simple fact remains that Alcantara will most probably still be at Barca next season, regardless of who he wants to play for and who's interested. nordkap also brings up a good point about the point in signing other future stars when we could have our own. Petrucci, Morrison and Pogba look very promising and this season we will see if Cleverley is up to the task.
TheFamousNo7
Rumour that Thiago is signing a new contract with Barca for4 years with a €90 million (£81 million) buy out clause
Blue_Mel
Odd. Thought he wanted to play for Chelsea ;) Never any doubt in my mind that he would stay on at Barca.
TheFamousNo7
Just thinking...City could come along and pay the £81 million???
Blue_Mel
Wouldn't be surprised if they did. Thanks for the update on Alcantara by the way Blue_Mel, it's appreciated.
