Who do we get next?

Who do we get next?

Sanchez, Nasri, Modric, just to name a few!

With the deals of Jones and Young nearly completed I would love to know your choice of players that you think we need to get next.

It is obvious that we definitely need a playmaker in the squad so I`m tilting towards Modric with no disrespect for Nasri and Sanchez.

Watching Modric play is a delight, his ability to give accurate passes both long and short passes can not be compromised.

The only advantage we have in getting either Sanchez or Nasri is that they both can also play on the flanks.

But having the likes of Nani, Valencia, Park, Giggs, and Young, I don`t think we need any more wingers.

So what do you think?

Well, it's a hard one. Personally out of the ones you've listed I would go for Nasri. Nasri is brilliant with both feet, a very good dribbler, great at the short 1-2 passing and knows where the goal is. His approach is very direct, get the ball run at the defenders. Modric is a very good also but for what we're looking for I don't feel he ticks all the boxes. His range of passing is better than Nasri's and his dribbling is near enough the same but his lack of goals and, that said, assists also which is hardly reassuring. Sanchez is too much of a risk for my liking. Personally I want Douglas Costa if we're talking CAM's in general, he's shown a genuine ambition to play for the club. He's only 20 and any transfer is a risk but he's a great dribbler, he's not afraid of shooting and testing the keeper as well as causing havoc and uncertainty amongst defenders. He's freekick taking is phenomonal also. He would really fit our counter attacking system moreso than most. So Nasri or Costa would really make me happy, you won't catch me 8itching if we do get Modric though.

The issue is what we want and whats considered value for money is two different things. Fergie doesn't like to be taken for a mug and won't let Tottenham rip us off by saying 35+ mil for Modric. Nor can I imagine him paying over 40 mil for Sneijder. Nasri and Douglas Costa seem the only transfers with a bit of financial sense behind them. Then there's the case of assessing each players attitude towards playing for the club. Costa is the only player who has expressed wanting to join United. Nasri and Modric are very conservative in their approach, they clearly don't want to p1ss off the fanbase or their manager but have dropped hints but I get the vibe that they're not overly fussed where they end up if they leave. Sneijder has expressed wanting to play for United but has since became quite relaxed and cosy at Inter.

Sneijder or Costa but as No7 says Fergie has to balance the books also so getting into a bidding war for Sneijder could be dangerous but in saying that Young cost us 20 million, 20 million that could of helped us get the likes of Sneijder or Modric. After reading No7's comment on Costa, he really sounds like someone who could fit in well and thrive under Fergie's tutelage. Modric is a good player, as is Nasri, but for some reason they just do not seem right for us whether it's their physicality or aggression I do not know, in an ideal situation we would sign Sneijder regardless of money but the more logical move seems to be for Costa. Fergie has surprised us in the transfer market so far so who knows maybe he has someone in mind that we the fans and the media have not considered. At least this transfer window is exciting.

The only issues surrounding Costa is the 4 years left remaining on his contract. Though I suspect a bid of 15+ mil may tempt Shakthar as they only paid 6 million euro's (bet Gameiro wish they'd accepted our initial offer rather than being greedy) for him and it would mean a massive profit for the club. At the same time however they may be reluctant to sell due to his importance to the team and I don't believe they're in any need for money anyway. I think any deal may be reliant on player power, though I hate to promote it.

From them clips I say get him in now, some of them strikes he was taking reminded of a certain Mr Ronaldo, the technique he has is pretty impressive and he can only get better. Shaktar are a rich club backed by an oligarch or the like so they won't be susceptible to any realistic bid however player power, as much as I can't stand it, could make it happen. The lad seems to have great ball control and good vision, that second clip on yt 3 minutes 8 secs in the goal he scores reminds me of how Ronaldo strikes the ball. That Willian chap seems pretty useful as well. For once Manchester weather wouldn't be a problem for us when signing a latin player, the weather in Donetsk is worse then Manchester in the winter. 15 million+ ain't too bad when you look at whats going on in the market lately. Good shout there No7.

What's the craic with all this money alledgedly coming from the Qatari royal family? Is this just tabloid crap or can anyone here shed any light?
14/06/2011 14:38:00
I read that myself yesterday bluedub, supposedly the trolls, sorry glazers, are floating the club on the hong kong stock exchange for 1.7 billion as well. The story then went on to state that perhaps the Qatari's are loaning money or are sanctioning these signings ahead of them taking over the club but this is the newspapers saying this and we all know how pathetic modern day journalism is. However I wouldn't mind seeing the back of the trolls.
14/06/2011 14:53:00
Most probably just a load of crap to be perfectly honest with ya bluedub. We've been linked with the Qatari royal family for the last year yet nothing has surfaced. Just a recurring rumour to sell I reckon. Wish it was true though. No issues with the Glazers or anything just a bit of financial security wouldn't go a miss.
