Ferdinand Meets Fabio

Rio Ferdinand reported for international duty for the first time in 2011 as the England squad assembled ahead of the Wembley fixture with Switzerland this Saturday; with a combination of injuries have prevented Rio from being available for consideration.

More importantly, it was also the first time that Rio had joined up with the England camp since John Terry took back the England captaincy.

The manner in which the switch back was carried out left a lot to be desired. The tabloid press continued to infer that the reasons why it happened have never been fully explained to Rio by Fabio Capello.

Several pundits were also inferring that the meeting up, for the first time, could prove to be a little awkward.

Well we`re unable to comment on that line of discussion but it is being reported in the tabloid press that the two shook hands and that was about it.

Too awkward for words perhaps?

I doubt Ferdinand is happy about it but is just biting his lip until he's gone atleast just to ensure he has a place in the England set up. Until Capello's gone and some of the 'golden age' are out of the squad and replaced by some of the exciting youth, England really won't appeal to me.
