'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Giggs Puts It In Perspective

The general consensus of opinion is that Ryan Giggs will be the last of the golden oldies to hang up his boots.

Giggs, set to play on next season, has out-lasted Gary Neville, Edwin Van der Sar and most probably Paul Scholes.

But, whilst Giggs is, as you`d expect, gutted about the loss to Barcelona, he`s been around long enough to be able to reflect on what has been a good season and what we have achieved since his arrival, commenting,

"There would be something wrong if we weren`t disappointed after Saturday."

"But if you said at the start of the season that we were going to get a 19th title, everyone at the club would have taken it."

"It was impossible to think we`d get to 19 titles 20 years ago, so to do it in such a short space of time was brilliant."

"But it`s not about 19, it`s about pushing on and trying to get 20."

"That`s what this club is all about - not standing still but moving forward and hopefully being successful next season."

Well said that man!

Hopefully we do exactly that. Though I suspect we will need a bit of strengthening to do so. With Chelsea looking to have a squad overhaul they may be much more of a threat, though with them there's an issue of their players gelling and seperating those with genuine ability from those who can't handle the competition or are duds. A couple of signing for the middle of the park and we should be fine.
