A Hero Emerges?

Tonight will, no doubt, be a classic encounter.

It`ll also see the emergence of a hero.

Ahead of the clash Rio Ferdinand has a suspicion that Wayne Rooney could well be that hero we`re all looking for tonight.

Speaking to the media ahead of the game, Rio had this to say (rather than tweet),

"When we`ve needed Wayne to stand up and be counted for us, he has always been there."

"You talk about big occasions, look at the City game where he scored one of the best goals you`ll ever see at Old Trafford."

"But it will not be down to one person to perform to make sure we get over the line. It`s going to need all of us to do what the manager wants us to do."

If Rooney is to emerge the hero, what a transformation from those early days this season when it looked as if he couldn`t score for the love of money!

Hopefully, with Valencia and Park stretching the pitch horizontally and Hernandez stretching it vertically, Rooney will have plenty of space to play his game in. If he's allowed to play his game the Barca may be in for a tough night. Even if he's not allowed to play his game, the Valencia, Park and Hernandez will be allowed to. 100% effort is needed from every player, if we go down fighting I can live with that. If we're waving the white flag from the beginning and not chasing every ball down, putting them under pressure and launching fluent, decisive couter attacking football then I will be****ed as it shows we didn't learn from 2009.
