Souness Predicting a Shock!

The general consensus of opinion amongst the United support is that the Champions League Final has come too early for Darren Fetcher.

The midfielder, only just back from a virus that severely drained him and caused him to lose a substantial amount of weight, is expected to miss out on a third Champions League Final.

But the Sky Sports pundit and long term associate of the foe from down the road, Graeme Souness, reckons it might all be a smokescreen with Sir Alex Ferguson preparing to pull off something of a shock and play Fletcher in the centre of the pitch with Ryan Giggs, thereby leaving Michael Carrick on the sidelines.

Speaking about just such a matter, Souness had this to remark,

"I reckon Fletcher will play. As hard as United may work, Barca will have more of the ball."

"And as a midfielder it`s critical you don`t allow then freedom or time to make passes."

"So you must have a disciplined midfield. This is a game for Fletcher."

For sentimental reasons we`d love to be able to say we agree, it really is tragic that Fletcher has already missed two finals and is set to miss a third but we reckon that Souness might just be eating a large slice of humble pie once the starting eleven is finally announced.

I hope Fletcher does play, we would would be a better side for it too but Fergie must weigh up whether Fletch is fit and ready for the game. The last thing we want is to be playing Barca with 10 fit players and 1 half fit one. In Fergie we trust and all that.

An unfit Fletcher is still better than a fully fit Carrick. Play him! Come on Fletcher perform a miracle.
