Thoughts on 19 Titles - Rio Ferdinand

Having gotten the point needed to wrap up top-flight title number 19, Rio Ferdinand reflected on the game yesterday.

Rio, who had his normal solid game at the heart of the defence, had this to say,

"We missed out last year by a point and that was really disappointing."

"It was at this ground last year where we effectively lost the league because we only managed to draw when we needed a win."

"We did it the hard way by conceding a soft goal early on but we managed to stay on our feet with plenty of hard graft and perseverance and got the reward."

"Even if we hadn`t done it here we would have been confident of completing the job next week because we`re at home. Nobody gives you an easy game and Blackburn proved that."

Personally, I`m just glad that we got the point yesterday, taking on Blackpool next week with Ian Holloway`s side perhaps needing a result to ensure Premier League survival might have been too nerve-wracking.

He really has shown up when we needed him the most. Just when we thought his injuries have got the best of him he puts in some great displays. Good to have you back to your old, reliable self Rio.
