United - Ferguson and Those Team Changes

United - Ferguson and Those Team Changes

When the team sheet was produced last night, it`s fair to say that there were a few more changes than many had expected.

Only Anderson and Van der Sar remained from the team that had started at the Emirates Stadium last Sunday.

Some supporters questioned whether the eleven selected would be good enough to hold off the much anticipated assault from Schalke.

As it turns out they were more than good enough to repel a Schlake side that, to be honest, are amongst the worst to have gotten to the last four of such a prestigious competition.

But the comparative ease of our progression to the Champions League Final didn`t stop Sir Alex having a sleepless night before coming up with his starting eleven as the boss explained, to the media, afterwards, commenting,

"I didn`t sleep last night thinking about it. I woke up four times and picked four different teams but they did me proud.

"Every one of them was a Manchester United player, so why could I not play him?"

"Because it was such an important game it creates a bit of doubt in your mind about whether you are doing the right thing. But it will be vindicated. It will be a fresh team on Sunday and we`ll go for it."

Sunday promises, though, to be a far tougher assignment don`t you think?

Chelsea will be a pain in the backside but we must remember, a draw will do. There's no need to feel pressured into attacking and overcommitting, we should take the game by the scruff of the neck, be patient in our play and dominate the tempo of the game.

As for the side that played tonight, you can't deny them their praise. That's one thing that can definately be said about our squad, every single one of them will play their heart out for the team, for Fergie and for us fans.
