'If It's Football, It's Vital'

We Never Get Given Anything!

Sir Alex, only just back from a five game touch-line ban, wasn`t too impressed with the officials at the Emirates Stadium.

Although not saying anything that would see him on a FA charge again, Sir Alex left nobody in any doubt that United are not getting the rub of the green when it comes to decisions in these big matches by remarking to the media afterwards,

"Obviously it`s given Chelsea a major chance now and that`s what happens."

"They got some great decisions on Saturday. We never seem to get these kind of decisions. They (Chelsea) got one to win the league at Old Trafford last season so that`s a worry. We go into these games worrying about decisions."

"Clichy on Owen was a clear penalty but we`re not going to get decisions like that in a major game."

"I`ve seen the two incidents."

"The first one was a definite flick of the hand from Vidic but it`s very difficult to see. But we all had a clear view of the second one. It was a clear penalty kick."

Yes it was but then again so was the Vidic one Sir Alex!

Rather than moan about the officiating perhaps we should take a look at why we were so lacklustre at a time when we had the ideal situation to make a real statement of intent.

Red Boy, This is quite sincere coming from a United Fan...

Redboy you are really paving the way with improving the stereotypical, prejudice views of us United fans. Great job with doing that.
TheFamousNo7
Ultimately, we shouldn't be relying on the ref to give us a decision which in turn gives us the game. Fergie shouldn't feel hard done by either, he should focus more on why or side put in such a poor performance rather than why a decision wasn't given our way.
TheFamousNo7
I wouldn't mind getting another fav deceision at OT mind u :) I got a feeling we will need one
kishaloy_nag_blue
Well he is effectively drawing the attention away from the performance onto himself. Which is something I suppose. Still, I have to say. You vital football man u fans really do loads for improving the very dim view many of us hold (thanks to the kind of folks found on republic of mancunia or the random glory hunters who can only name Rooney & Ronaldo and know nothing of the club beyond its current form), probably the most level-headed fans on this network. Can't wait for Sunday!
BlueBanes
more bleating from Alex, whatever next may I ask!
merlin
Why would you ask merlin? You will get a rant of anything and everything that goes against us. I understand that he's taking the pressure off our team by taking the media's eye off the performance but sometimes a media bashing is what the squad needs. Perhaps a bit of criticism will motivate them to improve and prove the doubters and critics wrong. After yesterdays performance, the squad could really do with a kick up the arse. Did Arsenal make us look average or was it our lathargic performance which made Arsenal look good? I'm not intending to take anything away from Arsenal but i'm beginning to feel we're reverting back to our early season form, we're leaving it late, not really turning up and almost expectant that we will win without ever really trying.
TheFamousNo7
"We go into these games worrying about decisions." Welcome to everyone else's world when they've to go to Old Trafford Slur.
Bluedub
I don't think we have much to complain on sunday,we were poor, its as simple as that!!!

i dont understand why we go into these games playing so defensively with one striker at the top so isolated. We dont have a drogba or some other heavyweight so we simply cannot play that game. We have always been impressive when pushing forward from all sides... This passing game with careful steps going forward simply won't do because we do not have a playmaker like modric... We need to use our wings which have always been the best in the country and bring forward our defensive midfield to help in the center of the attacking area. We never have someone outside the box to pick up loose balls from corners or from our defending...They are either behind the midfield line when attacking or in our box when defending. We need to have a more active midfield! WE NEED A MORE ATTACKING MIDFIELD!!! I'M HAVING A MELTDOWN!
alexpant
alexpant, I completely understand the point you're coming from and you're completely right about playing to our strengths (the wings) unfortunately yesterday I feel as though Arsenals fullbacks were superb and really prevented us from playing our usual counter-attacking wide football against them. Clichy and Sagna are fast and strong and simpy proved too good on the occassion for the tired Valencia and Nani. I think this solid foundation, counter-attack with width approach shows how 1 dimesional this squad has become and the issue all stems from the poor midfield. Upfront you're right, we lack a target man but we do have that strength and height in Diouf and Macheda. Don't get me wrong, I don't think either are starting 11 material at the moment but they are squad players and provide that option. The more attacking incentive from midfield I believe we have in Cleverley, he's no Sneijder granted, but like the others he's a squad player and will at the very least provide that option.
TheFamousNo7
Give Anderson a string of starts and the midfield looks tenfold more attacking. If he played every game giggs did then he would be the new favored son. But while Utd and Fergie continue to play giggs and carrick the centre will never improve, as they do "just enough" to justify there selection.
The_belfast_latic
is Alex Ferguson genuinely stupid or is he just acting it as some sort of "mind game" technique? "They got a decision that won them the league at Old Trafford" last year"????!?!?!?!?!??!?! HAS HE FORGOTTON THAT, THAT ***** SCORED WITH HIS HANDS TO MAKE IT 1-1 THAT GAME? AND THAT THE ONLY GENUINE GOAL WAS JOE COLES ONE SO YES, WE SHOULD HAVE WON THE GAME ANYWAY????? I mean for god sake, maybe Drogba was offside but atleast he didnt push it in the net with his hands. What an absolute idiot drunk.
chelsea09
Chelsea09, it could also be looked at the first game at the Bridge where you won 1-0 from a freekick, which wasn't a freekick and a fould on Evans (i believe it was) which went unnoticed to lead to your only goal. Yes Fergies a hypocrite and expect similar rants in the future, the best thing you can do though is ignore him.
