United - Rivals for Phil Jones

United - Rivals for Phil Jones

The Daily Grapevine has Manchester United linked with a move for another promising youngster.

This time the lad in question is the Blackburn Rovers defender, Phil Jones.

The versatile Jones, who can also play in midfield, has attracted attention from numerous clubs but the Daily Grapevine is now convinced that it`ll turn out to be a straight fight between United and Liverpool for his signature.

Jones, who recently signed a new long-term deal at Ewwod Park, is rated in the £15 million bracket with the source of the rumour intimating that United view him as a long term partner for Chris Smalling at the heart of the defence.

Matters may well be swayed in this scenario if Blackburn, who are in free-fall, suffer the indignity of relegation.

Another rumour to keep one eye on we feel!

Wouldn't mind him at all. A vast amount of ability at such a young age, a genuine prospect. 15 mil seems a bit steep but take into consideration the potential ability and the years of service then 15 mil really is nothing. The competition may not seem fierce, with Liverpools current predicament an all but there's the fear that he will look at the teamsheets and the competition for places and pick Liverpool as it's more of a walk in the park.
