United - The Added Bonus

One of the bonus features of almost certainly having wrapped up the Champions League semi-final in the first leg; means that Sir Alex Ferguson can shuffle his pack over the next week or so.

With crucial Premier League games, against Arsenal (a) and Chelsea (h) sandwiching the Champions League semi-final return leg, Sir Alex now has the luxury of being able to field a slightly weaker side against Schalke next week, thereby allowing him to play the big guns against Arsenal and Chelsea.

Speaking about just such a matter, Sir Alex had this to say after the comfortable win in Gelsenkirchen,

I want to get Sunday`s game over with, hopefully, a positive result because that`s a very important game now."

"From there, depending on that result, I could make two or three changes because we have Chelsea the following Sunday."

"It`s a seven day period that is crucial to the club but they are the kind of games the players relish."

More importantly, it is a seven day period that could shape our domestic season and see Manchester United net that record breaking 19th top-flight title with a couple of games to spare.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, lets slow down a second and be more respectful of Schalke. I'm feeling as confident as most with the CL final pretty much in the bag but Schalke turned Inter over 5-2 at the San Siro and we should be wary of this and cautious of them.
