United - Pardew`s Thoughts!

Having taken over mid-season, from Chris Hughton, Alan Pardew has surprised a few people with his side.

Shorn of their star striker, Andy Carroll, in the last knockings of the transfer window, Newcastle were a credit to their manager last night.

For the first fifteen minutes of the game they were in control and wit better finishing could have scored.

As it turned out they so very nearly lost the fixture with United being denied a clear-cut late penalty, a decision that Pardew reflected on in his post match interview where he commented,

"My heart sank - because of the history of United`s last-minute goals, the club they are and who their manager is, I thought the referee would give it."

"So you have to applaud him for the decision he made, it was the correct one."

"Danny stuck his leg out and just managed to bring it back in."

Last-minute goals! We`re not sure what you mean (says he in jest).

But, with regards to the outcome of the title race, Pardew was very complimentary towards United when he quipped,

"They are the best team we`ve played. They`ll still win the title."

Like we`ve been saying for a few weeks now, it really is ours to throw away.
