Forlan and Costa Interest United?

Transfer rumours are always entertaining when it comes to debatable agendas!

Two that have grabbed my attention today and two that are floating around the grapevine would see United sign an old-boy whilst also boosting their midfield.

The old-boy is none other than Diego Forlan who, since leaving United, has improved considerably. Now thirty-one years of age, Forlan has expressed a desire to leave Atletico Madrid. It`s also reported that Madrid would be willing to listen to offers in the region of £9 million>.

Would Sir Alex go back for somebody who never really got going in a United shirt during his previous spell here?

The midfielder is the Shakhtar Donetsk player, Douglas Costa with it being muted that his agent has confirmed United are close to securing a deal.

Keep them posted for nay further updates.

Would love to see Forlan back, he is class, but it wont happen. We now have Hernandez, Rooney and Berba, plus the other youngsters coming back.. No room for Forlan.. Costa is another matter, he is young, talented and has done very well for Shaktar.. Is he the solution to our midfield, I will let SAF be the judge of that..

Of the two Costa is more likely and my personal preference, in fact, I want him to top the transfer priority list this summer. Whilst I have faith in Cleverley and believe him to be that attack minded midfielder we yearn for he will need stiff competition, whoever plays the best between them gets the spot. Costa clearly wants to play for the club it's just a matter of getting Shakthar, who hardly need money, to agree a fee. Forlan unfortunately never cut it and though he's a brilliant striker we don't need him and age is catching him up. We missed out on selling him, a great mistake.

A name that popped up again is De Gea with Fergies brother being sent out to watch him, supposedly anyway. I'm not going to lie I don't really watch the Spanish League and have no knowledge of De Gea to back up any opinion of whether he's suitable all not. Even still I feel we should be cautious because it wasn't long ago Sergio Asenjo (another young Spanish keeper) seemed like the bees knees and I feel we should go for a more accomplished Akinfeev.

FM7 - De Gea has now performed very well for Atletico Madrid over a longer stretch of time.. I have seen a few of their matches, not enough to make me an expert, but he is extremely gifted, and I think he will be the real deal.. As opposed to Akinfeev, he has also played in a more competitive league, which is a huge difference.. Though I must admin Akinfeev from the limited games I have seen him play, looks very talented.. I would go for De Gea, I think he also has the physical attributes, he is taller than Akinfeev..
