United - Just Like 1999 All Over Again!

Can United really win the treble, just like in 1999?

As the season starts to edge towards its conclusion, the mere fact that come the middle of April it is still a possibility is reason enough to dream that it is a feat that can be achieved for a second time.

The Premier League is ours to throw away and providing we can get past Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final, this Saturday, you`d fancy us to beat either Stoke City or Bolton Wanderers in the final.

Which leaves us, most probably, with the mother-of-all battles with Barcelona or Real Madrid in the Champions League final; providing we can get past the challenge that Schalke 04 presents

After the victory over a gallant Chelsea side last night, Sir Alex Ferguson was quick to emphasize just how galvanized the squad is and also offered a few words on what was an outstanding performance last night, commenting,

"You can see the momentum of the team at the moment, they are all desperate to play against City on Saturday."

"I think we have hit our form no doubt about that."

"The second half against West Ham, the game at Chelsea, the players are relishing the challenges they have got now."

"I think we played very, very well against a very, very good team."

"Chelsea played a big part in the game but I thought we were the better team and had some fantastic performances - Park, Chicharito, no one let us down."

"The second goal was the break we needed."

It was, it killed off any chance of a nervy last quarter of an hour in which another Chelsea goal would have seen those treble dreams quashed.

A double or a treble - your views would be appreciated!

Still content with the Premier League myself, anything more is a bonus in my eyes. Whilst we should beat both Schalke and City I won't be holding my breath, this is football after all. And then if we do make it to the final we stand a good chance, over one leg anything can happen. Too many are too quick to write us out, it's the same story every season and it tends to come at their own peril.

AUDIO: Rooney disappointed with draw

A point earned against Leicester City seemed to be a little disappointing with Manchester United hunting down a top-four place.
