'If It's Football, It's Vital'

United - Obsession!

As Tuesday evening drew closer, Sir Alex Ferguson, at his pre-match press conference, continued with his mind-games.

The wily old Scot stuck to a point made previously about how inning the Champions League is an obsession for Chelsea, an obsession that could be viewed as unhealthy, commenting,

"It has become an obsession with them to win the European Cup. That is certainly why they signed Fernando Torres. There is no question of that."

"Abramovich, the owner, has very much nailed his colours to the mast in that respect."

"It is a fantastic competition but to have an obsession on winning the European Cup is stretching yourself a wee bit."

"I had that obsession myself for a long time. After losing the semi-final against Borussia Dortmund (1997), I thought we were never going to do it."

"So when we won in Barcelona in 1999 it was the greatest feeling of all time and took the monkey off my back."

Thirteen years!

That`ll give the Russian nightmares as he seeks the live the impossible dream!

An obsession? Bit of an understatement. Abramovich has found one of the few things money can't buy, the Champions League. Unfortunately for him, his time to win it is slowly running out. With the financial fairplay rule soon being enforced and Chelsea constantly making losses every year I don't believe they will be able to qualify or will atleast struggle to qualify for the Champions League (i'm not certain on that though).
