United - A Cunning Plan

A cunning plan hatched in the hope that Wayne Rooney is able to take his place in the line-up against Manchester City, at Wembley.

It`s probably come as no surprise to learn that United are not going to take the two game ban dished out to Rooney on the chin, instead a commission will sit in judgment sometime today to discuss United`s case.

According to the tabloid press, and one prominent member in particular, United are offering the defence that Rooney aimed his comments at a Sky Sports photographer who had encroached onto the field of play following his hat-trick penalty.

United`s aim is to get the ban reduced to one game therefore freeing up striker for the Wembley FA Cup semi-final. But, as we pointed out yesterday, a failure to gain a positive judgment from the commission could very well result in the ban being extended to three games which would rule Rooney out of the Fulham, Manchester City and Newcastle games.

Let`s hope it goes our way!

Anything more than a one game ban is harsh in my opinion. He wasn't right in what he did but he's done nothing no worse than committing two yellow card offences.
