United - Owen`s Keen to Start

A fit again Michael Owen is keen to get some match-time under his belt.

The striker, who`d love to start at Stamford Bridge, is currently in limbo when it comes to his future.

Speaking about that very subject, Michael has commented, to the red-top media, ahead of the trip to London, to face Chelsea,

"My contract expires at the end of the season and I`ve made no secret that, in an ideal world, I would extend my stay. But I will just wait and see what the club says. We have held no talks yet."

But, returning to the hugely anticipated Champions League quarter-final tie with Chelsea, Michael has given the same red-top tabloids food for thought about the enticing tie, remarking,

"Since I`ve been at the club the games against Chelsea have been odd. We don`t get outplayed there, that`s for sure."

"Unfortunately, we haven`t had many good results, though I`m sure our luck will change at some point."

"In the league last month we were 1-0 up and put on one of the finest displays of football Stamford Bridge has probably seen from a visiting team."

"Then they got back into the game from nothing, really, but we won`t let that happen again."

Hopefully not!

As an aside, would you give Michael Owen a new contract for next season or is it time to let him go?

Time for him to go, hopefully for himself on a high with his first ever PL title and our record breaking 19th!! With Macheda, Welbeck and Diouf all returning the competition is just too fierce for Owen to get into the squad and if tactically Fergie wants to play a poacher Hernandez will beat him to the mark every time. It's good though to hear he's hungry for a spot though and really wants to play.
