United - It Still Rankles!

It may still be a couple of weeks away but the semi-final being played at Wembley still rankles with Sir Alex Ferguson.

Sir Alex, always keen to make a point, has directed his anger at the choice of venues by looking at it from the motorists perceptive by discussing it from a carbon foot-print perspective whilst also acknowledging that high petrol prices mean Wembley, for whoever goes, is an expensive trip.

This is what Sir Alex is quoted as having said in the tabloid media,

"Think of all the people from the north-west driving down."

"Just think about this one issue which is important."

"There`ll be 60,000 people coming down from Manchester - you think about how much petrol is used for that. This is one issue alone."

"Think of the amount of people from the north-west driving away down there. Stoke fans, Bolton fans, City fans, United fans."

"And on the same weekend Liverpool fans are travelling down to play Arsenal."

"You`ve also got people coming down to see the London Marathon. It`s going to be absolute chaos. I don`t think the cost of people travelling down to Wembley is considered."

"You`ve got Villa Park and Anfield just there on the doorstep. It`s quite incredible but there`s nothing that can be done about it."

"It`s always nice to go to Wembley but I think it`s much better if you just go for a final."

"There`s an incentive for every player - to play in a Wembley final."

We couldn`t agree more but until sufficient funds have been gathered to pay off the extortionate amount Wembley cost to build, nothing much is likely to change!
