United - Rooney Missing!

With Fabio Capello having decreed that the friendly international against Ghana will see a shadow England side start and with the big names absent, having returned to their clubs, is there a claim for this game to be classified as a rip-off?

Supporters will have coughed up good money to see the likes of Rooney, Terry, Cole and Lampard (amongst others) play, instead they now face travelling to Wembley knowing a second-string will be wearing the three lions shirt, courtesy of Fabio`s strategy.

Ahead of the game the fact that it is an under-strength England side has also brought some comments from the Ghama squad with Asamoah Gyan commenting about the situation,

"I might be disappointed but it`s one of those things. Maybe the fans are disappointed as we have never played against England"

"They have paid a lot of money. They came to see Rooney and the big players. But England are still strong. They`ve never lost to an African team."

Gyan may be putting on a brave face but with a record away following die at the famous stadium, rip-off appears to fit the bill if you ask us!

I thought the team was better than the starting XI. A lot more hunger from the players to break into the national set-up and a hunger to win was shown. No doubt though that even if every England player on the pitch were to score a hat-trick Capello would still revert back to the old system. I would like to see more England players playing with the hunger, desire and passion as that of the Ghana squad. Their positive attacking pace & power football was very entertaining.

Imagine the kerfuffle if Rooney, had been injured in a friendly? united and sralex would have whined to high heaven about it - Capello and the FA obviously chose the option of a quiet life (thus risking the City, and Tottenham players). Clearly helps having David Gill on the FA's board eh?

Yup fcb it does, it's great you should try it. Fergie did have another moan about international friendlies being pointless by the way.
