'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Milan Maestro in United Link!

With Paul Scholes having not been secured to a new one year deal, the Sunday tabloid press are starting to look at who United could possibly bring in as a replacement.

One name that surfaces in one tabloid is that of the Inter Milan player - Wesley Sneidjer.

Sneijder, now twenty-six, only recently signed a new deal at the San Siro to keep him there until 2015.

But the tabloid adds some substance to its story, or tries to, by claiming that close friends of the player say his head has been turned by the prospect of a move to the Theatre of Dreams.

Our interest, according to the tabloid, is reported as being genuine although the president of Inter, Massimo Moratti, pours cold water on any deal by proclaiming,

"The interest from Manchester United in Sniejder is real, but I didn`t look into it. My only interest is seeing Sneijder play here for amny more years to come.."

Plus, we`re also informed that there is the little matter of a £40 million transfer fee and a salary of around £140,000 a week.

We reckon this one could be a definite non-runner!

“The Premier League, in terms of top clubs, is the strongest in the world, and it would be nice to finish my career saying I have played at the very top in Spain, Italy, and England. There is not many who can say they have done that, and if that does happen for me I would only want it to be with Manchester United." - Sneijder. However, as reassuring as that sounds he did sign a new contract with Inter. The contract itself is relatively long when you take into consideration his age already, if he ever did want to join United he killed that opportunity when he penned that new contract. Inter will be under no pressure to sell him even if he were to push for a move.
