United - How Much?

United - How Much?

One of the pieces of tittle-tattle doing the rounds yesterday surrounded Sir Alex Ferguson possibly strengthening his defence this summer.

Our recent injury crisis has highlighted, just like last season that we can be quite easily exposed in this position.

But, the tittle-tattle didn`t carry any positive news, although I can`t say, given the subject, I`m too surprised.

The tittle-tattle discussed the possibility of the Bolton Wanderers centre back, Gary Cahill, moving to Old Trafford.

The lack of positive news revolved around the fact that a fee of £25 million had been quoted, a fee that United were in no way willing to pay.

Now it could have all been saber-rattling column inch generation, but if there is an element of truth in this tittle-tattle then I`d steer well clear at that price, wouldn`t you?

25 mil?! You've got to be kidding. No doubt Cahill is a brilliant defender but 25 mil isn't the amount you pay for back-up. I think we're best off steering clear of English players in general unless we can get another Smalling-esque transfer.

£25m - only 1/4 of what your club lost last year. Hope that puts things into perspective!
