United - Redknapp`s Sour Grapes

United - Redknapp`s Sour Grapes

Down in London something strange is stirring!

Whilst Chelsea launch a late offensive to claw their way back into the Premier League title fight, the boss of Tottenham Hotspur is only to keen to offer his views on the title race.

Having watched his club surrender two points to relegation threatened West Ham United, incidentally our next port of call, Harry Redknapp, in discussing the title race, came up with this little gem,

"This is as poor as United have played in years, but they keep stumbling along and nicking results when they should have got done."

It may well be the case but is it our fault that nobody in the chasing pack, not even a Tottenham side that blow very hot and cold, can overtake us? I think not!

I think that is the point that Harry is making - that it hasn't been a vintage season for United, but they keep on finding a way to win games they haven't particularly played well in. This is in stark contrast to Spurs who find a way to drop points even when they play well. I don't think this was a dig as such against United - I think you need to be a bit less defensive - you're top of the league and still in Europe and the Cup !

As Jolmember says, you seem to be castigating Redknapp, and then 'discovering' the point he was making in the first place. I know United fans who would agree (wholeheartedly - given you will almost certainly win the title) with Redknapp's analysis.

I don't think it is sour grapes but just honesty from Redknapp. The current Utd team is not in the same league as the Ronaldo, Rooney, Teves team of a couple of years ago - they are top because of their winning mentality and because the standard of the other top teams is much poorer than it has been for years. If United win the league - and I hope they do - then they will deserve to and will have prioved themselves the best team in the country, as for Spurs until they sign a top class striker they will continue to flatter to decieve.

Too sensitive! I'm sure you've suffered much worse insults and will probably continue to do so!

Rent Boy - Arry is spot on, this isnt a vintage Utd side - its only two ex-spurs players in Berba and Carrick keeping you up there - haha

Despise the man being honest, overrated and get's credited for a lot more than he deserves. However, in this case I'm not going to say he's wrong and in all fairness to the man he got asked the question, he wasn't speaking out or anything. Our football has been far from good let alone brilliant and at time's we should've lost alternatively however there we're equally as many games where we should've won. Harry is in no position to talk though, long punt up to Crouch, nod down to VDV and hope for the best is hardly attractive attacking football, is it? Better yet let's watch Bale try and take on 3 players and fail in doing so or we could watch Lennon run all the way up the wing to watch his cross go flying off the pitch for a corner or throw-in. No position to talk Harry, not at all. No doubt he will go on to say Rooney is a "poor" player yet refer to Crouch as "top quality". Nice one.

Crouch top assister for Tottenham, VDV top goalscorer. Bale 1 assist, Lennon 2 assists. No, you're right, i'm well off.
