United in Costa Hunt

Sat in the stands at Old Trafford yesterday was somebody who many feel could provide a great deal to the United midfield.

It`s long been suggested that our midfield, without the ageing Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs, lacks something and perhaps seeing Douglas Costa sat in the stands is an indication that United are seriously considering buying the 20 year old Brazilian.

Currently playing for Shahktar Donetsk, many are inferring that he has been the driving force behind their qualification for the last eight of the Champions League.

A price of £18 million is quoted which is a snip if the lad proves the one to galvanise our midfield when Giggs and Scholes call it a day.

18 mil! 2 mil cheaper than what Gremio wanted but 14 mil more than what Shakthar paid. He's a brilliant youngster but I would still prefer to see some of our prospects given a go, Pogba, Petrucci, James and Cleverley all have a lot to offer and it would be a shame to see such good midfielders leave because the chance of a first-team place is becoming increasingly impossible to get. Personally I want to see Cleveley back, he's capable of getting goals from midfield and offers more, attacking-wise that is, than most of our other midfielders.

I think everyone is reading too much into this. Perharps he was there to see his Brazilian friends? The Da Silva twins or Anderson?
