'If It's Football, It's Vital'

United - Evans in the Frame

Circumstances have contrived to make Sir Alex Ferguson consider taking a gamble this weekend.

With the club suffering a shortage of defenders, following injuries to Ferdinand, Vidic, O`Shea and Rafael leaving only four fit defenders at the club, Sir Alex is contemplating bringing Jonny Evans back for the weekend fixture with Bolton Wanderers, a possible rehearsal for the FA Cup Final if the semi-finals go well for both clubs.

Talking about bringing Evans back early, Sir Alex is quoted as having remarked,

"It has been a bad spell for us."

"Only a few weeks ago we had every defender fit and things were looking great. It has all just fallen apart in the last week or so. Hopefully Jonny Evans may be fit for Saturday, even if it is a bit of a risk."

"He has trained all week but he has been out for such a long time."

Is it a risk worth taking or should, considering our predicament, we not be taking any risks that may exaggerate our injury crisis?

Despite having De Laet, Smalling, Evans, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Rafael, Fabio, O'Shea, Brown and Gill we always seem to find ourselves short on defenders. Just an idea, maybe we should buy another one. Seeing as it's inevitable that all of them are going to get injured at the same time at some point during the season and there always seems to be a shortage perhaps that extra one for security wouldn't be too bad. Good to hear Evans is making a recovery though. Hopefully he can find the form he showed during our last PL winning campaign.
