United - Rooney in Good Shape

As we move into the business end of the season, Wayne Rooney (as we commented yesterday) finally seems to be hitting the level of form that made last season such a great season for him.

In a revealing interview, published in the tabloid press this morning, Rooney openly admits he now feels the best he has done all season, after a succession of niggling injuries, commenting

"In fact the last two or three weeks is the best I`ve felt all season. I feel sharp and if the manager needs me to get up and down the pitch, then fine."

"I haven`t played as many games, so I feel good. But the more you do play the more consistent you are and the better you feel."

And as for the remainder of the season, on a club front, Wayne added,

"I`m delighted we are still in three major competitions and it`s going well. I don`t think we need to prove anything to people - probably more to ourselves really."

"We didn`t win the league last year or the Champions League and FA Cup, so we need to prove to ourselves we are capable of doing it."

"At the minute it`s going well and we think we can go far in each tournament."

Hopefully to the bitter end in all three, now wouldn`t that be nice?

I'm not going to hold my breath on a treble. A double would be nice but even then I would be happy with the PL alone.
