United - Wanted?

United - Wanted?

Now the last eight of the Champions League are known, we eagerly await the draw for the quarter-finals and semi-finals.

The draw will be made this Friday, at 11:00 hours, and we all have our thoughts on who we`d like United to draw and who we`d like United to avoid.

With three English sides in the draw, there`s more than a fair chance that two might be drawn together, something many believe UEFA would more than favour.

Naturally, the team we`d like to avoid at this stage are Barcelona with us ideally saving them for another day.

But, a former player of ours, one who we raked in a substantial sum for when we moved him on to Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo, is under no illusion who he`d like to draw, reportedly remarking,

"I would like to meet United next and, further down the line, Barcelona."

I guess, come Friday lunchtime, we`ll soon be mulling over who we have just been paired with!

Come on Shakthar of Schalke! No team remaining is unbeatable in my opinion par Barcelona. Real Madrid would be difficult but they're certainly beatable. Chelsea and Inter have been underperforming (and that's being nice) in contrast to their normal selves let alone both teams efforts last season. Tottenham would be a tough game but is it overconfident to say a semi-final place booked?

As for playing against Ronaldo and Madrid, I would love it. Perhaps a bit of payback for firstly, poaching our best players (hard to believe we're a feeder club) secondly, knocking us out all those years ago due to Ronaldo's superb efforts and thirdly, to knock this Galactico idea out of their head, is it so hard to undestand that the era died along time ago and since then they've been relatively weak and underachieving? Heck even the illustrious Galactico squad underachieved for the star struck squad they had. Also I would love to have a smug look on my face as Ronaldo's dreams fell to bits around him and he realises his best years were with and only ever will be with ourselves.
