De Gea Link Resurfaces

With Edwin van der Sar confirming that despite the call not to do so, he will definitely be retiring come the end of the season, determined to go out on a high, one name continues to be prominent when it comes to replacing him.

It`s a name that`s cropped up previously and a name that those who frequent this site will recognize, with the keeper in question being David de Gea, the highly rated twenty-year old Atletico Madrid player.

Once again the fee mentioned is a considerable £15 million indicating, to me, that it could be confirmation of our interest or it could well be old news re-hashed.

We`ll endeavour to keep you informed of any updates!

I don't see the logic in this rumour. If we sign De Gea for the future as well as now what does that say to Lindergaard? If Lindergaard is one for the future surely signing another relatively young keeper with no proper CL experience and who still learning the trade of the Spanish game let alone a much tougher English game would be against the objective. I think we should be looking at an experienced keeper if we do get one.

He has however delivered performances of a very high standard, both in Primera D. and in the EuroLeague for AM. He is also in contention for the spanish national side, so though he is very young, his performances has suggested that he is not one for the future but for the present.. I think he is just as good as the other keepers we have been linked with, however such a young player is always prone to occasional lapses, are we willing to take that risk.

Being danish I think it is great to see Lindegaard in United, however I still wonder, he has not played any games at all in a competitive league ever, but then again I trust United and their scouting department. I just dont think he is ready now, he is for sure one for the future..
