United - Rooney on Getting That Win

United - Rooney on Getting That Win

Going into the FA Cup fixture, against Arsenal, we`d lost two on the trot, both Premier League fixtures away at Chelsea and Liverpool, so the pressure was truly on us.

Arsenal entered the fixture on a similar scenario, having exited two competitions in under a fortnight.

Therefore, it was obvious that there was a lot at stake for both sides.

If United had of lost, the alarm bells would have been ringing, especially with our next fixture being in the Champions League, against Marseille, in a tie that is very evenly balanced.

Thankfully, we emerged victorious and it`s left to Arsenal to lick their wounds contemplating where there season is heading.

After the game Wayne Rooney spoke about the result and the forthcoming fixture against Marseille, commenting to the media,

"It is great preparation for Marseille. After two defeats, this was always going to be a difficult game. To beat Arsenal in such a big game is a result for us."

"Now we need to go home, rest and make sure we prepare for Marseille."

"It is a massive game for us and we need to make sure we get the job done."

Naturally though, with a place in the last four now secured; hopes of landing our first FA Cup since 2004 are gathering pace.

Rooney, who has yet to stick an FA Cup winners medal in his trophy cabinet, spoke about the magic of the FA Cup, further adding,

"I am desperate to win the FA Cup. I have lost two finals."

"It`s got great history and I remember watching it as a kid. To lose two finals is devastating, so it`s a great chance now for us to go on and win it this season."

Could this be the season we bring the FA Cup home?

We've got a real good chance of winning it now, having knocked out Liverpool and Arsenal it would leave me with a bitter taste in my mouth if we don't, even more so if we don't win it and don't win the league.
