'If It's Football, It's Vital'

United`s Van der Sar`s Verdict!

I expect him to feature prominently in our man-of-the-match poll, an dafter the win over Arsenal Edwin Van der Sar had a few comments for the media about the match.

Starting with the result, Edwin had this to say,

"It`s an important win because we lost to Chelsea and Liverpool so the gap in the league is non-existent."

"We had to win this to give us another chance of silverware."

"We played quite well today, we got our goals and luckily I pulled off a couple of saves. But we defended well and scored at great times in the game."

We certainly did, the first goal coming after Arsenal looked to be on top and the second after Edwin had pulled off a great save to prevent Arsenal from getting back into the match.

But, Edwin is certain that this is his last year and when pressed about changing his mind had a one word answer for all those prepared ot listen, commenting emphatically,

"No."

This despite the chant echoing around the ground of;-

"One more year."

Sir Alex Ferguson, when pressed on the same subject, had this to ruefully add,

"Edwn`s a quality keeper, but he`s nearly 41 not 21. Sometimes nature catches up with him."

Sorted then, Edwin`s era is coming to an end!

When you see his performances this season you wonder why he's retiring. A great player, a model professional and still one of the best keepers out there. Aww, come on Edwin, one more year. Pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaseeeeeeee.
