Rodwell Wanted by United

Although the title is ours to throw away, it has to be said it, so far, hasn`t been a vintage United season.

In some games we`ve been found wanting and with the midfield duo of Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs getting older, season by season, the quest has started to rebuild the side.

This morning the red-top press are insistent that Manchester United are on the verge of doing business with Everton, with it being inferred that the club are looking at coughing up a sum, in the region of, £25 million for Jack Rodwell.

In fact the red-top goes so far as to say that United were interested in bringing Rodwell to Old Trafford in January but Everton wanted to keep the player until the end of the season.

Rodwell, at just twenty years of age, is a talented player and, despite only signing a five year deal last May, could well be sacrificed by the Merseyside club as they seek to bolster a squad that has flattered to deceive, on occasions, this season.

A good young DM who's capable of playing in many positions. If he can join and make an impact straight away then 25 mil wouldn't seem to bad but if he's one for the future then I think there's better options available.

My only concern would be the niggling injuries he keeps picking up – or are they just growing pains?

My worry for the lad is that Moyes continues to shiffle him around the starting XI, a young player like Rodwell needs to be given a position and stick to it, personally he is a pretty average defensive midfielder, the best position for the lad is a CB, has all the qualities to become a top CB for 30mil of course! Or actually make it 35mil
