United - Fletcher Pens New Deal!

Hot on the heels of Michael Carrick signing a new contract Darren Fletcher has followed suit.

The 27 year-old Scottish international has put pen to a new four year contract with the club prompting Sir Alex to give the player the following accolade,

"I am extremely proud that he came through the youth academy."

"I am delighted Darren has signed a new contract, he has developed into a top-class midfielder."

And as for the man himself,

"I take great pride in playing for Manchester United, I have won many trophies in my years playing here and I am looking forward to winning many more in the seasons to come. I would like to thank everyone at the club."

It`s great to see the club also securing its assets is it not!

It's good to see us keeping the backbone of the club but I can't help but feel if Gibson is given a new contract I won't see that much needed Attacking Mid and Defensive Mid. Fletcher is one of the best CM's in the league good at both going forward and defending and undoubtedly one of the best box-to-box mids out there.

Great news for Utd. Looking back, I'm gutted Ferguson convinced Fletcher he was part of the club's future when he was reportedly close to joining Everton. He's probably the best midfielder in your team. Wish he had have come to us!

Fletcher has come a long way in the last few seasons, he has vastly improved all aspects of his game, I may wish he was a better at passing the ball but he is the best in the league at what he is, a box to box player and the engine and workhorse of the team.
