United - New Carrick Deal

I`ve lost count of the number of times the name of Michael Carrick has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford whenever we`ve been linked with a big-money signing.

The press seems to have it in their heads that the midfielder is a nailed on certainty to be part of an exchange deal.

Well, just perhaps, that might all change now with the news filtering through yesterday afternoon that Michael had signed a deal that will see him remain at Old Trafford, and obviously part of Sir Alex`s plans, until 2014.

It`s a deal that produced a great quote form Michael with the Geordie born midfielder remarking,

"I`m enjoying my time at this great club and am pleased to have committed my future."

Cue silence from those aforementioned press hacks!

I was quite shocked with this contract. His performances in the last 2 years have been lack lustre to say the least. I had him down for leaving, he is shot of confidence, can't make a forward pass and doesn't really have to much effect defensively. All I can do is hope refinds his form.

FFS Why? And just as I type Carrick passes the ball backwards again while under little pressure. Maybe he should of played rugby.

Perhaps you really don't have any money? Otherwise it's mystifying as to why you'd feel the need to hang on to such a decidedly average player when you could go out and buy much, much better players. Could also be the reason you're so desparate to squeeze one last season out of Giggs and Scholes too.
