United - Hargreaves to Leave?

Having lasted a matter of minute sin his comeback game before limping off injured, the future of Owen Hargreaves, as a United player, ids looking bleak.

Our sources tell us that United will not be offering him a new contract and that he will be free to leave this summer.

We hope that Owen gets a new club but with his unfortunate injury record, you have to admit somebody will be taking a huge risk!

Is there any news on him making a return before the end of the season? I mean if he can get 3 or 4 games before the end of the season and his displays are positive then I don't see no reason for him to not a sign a pay as you play contract. We really need a solid DM at the moment and the midfield just hasn't been the same without him. He will always be remembered by me as a midfielder who heavily contributed towards the treble and had an outstanding season. If he does leave, please Fergie please, get rid of Gibson and Carrick if their performances dont turn around by the end of this season. Value for money or not we are in desperate need of a good DM and AM (personally would prefer to see Cleverley played in that role first though).

To be honest I'm surprised you've stuck with him for this long - a fine player undoubtedly, but the longer his knee problems have dragged on the less likely he's looked like making a full recovery. Sadly for Hargreaves I suspect he'll be forced into early retirement.

What happend to him, he made a comeback a couple of months ago, and was supposed to rid of his knee problem. He limped out after 5 minutes, but that injury was not related to his knee, am I missing something. He was a fine player, and I hope he will stay on, on a pay as you play deal. Agree with you F7, get rid of Gibson, use carrick as a sub, and buy a great AM, not one for the future, but one that can go in now and be an asset.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1328002/Owen-Hargreaves-sidelined-weeks-hamstring-injury.html <- it was supposedly a hamstring injury however I think we were told a fib. I suppose after that setback though Fergie rued bringing him back too early and maybe that's what we're seeing from Fergie now, perhaps he's worried he may get injured again if he's not feeling 100% or if Fergie feels it's too early.
