United - Defender Crisis Update

Yesterday it was reported that United might very well be struggling to field a recognized defence at Anfield this Sunday.

We reported how Vidic (suspended), Ferdinand, Evans and Evra (all injured) were giving Sir Alex problems regarding his starting eleven.

Today we`re happy to report that things do look slightly better.

Providing Chris Smalling has recovered from his hotel exertions, on Tuesday, he could well be partnered by either Ferdinand or Evans on Sunday with both, reportedly, being given until the last possible moment to prove their fitness.

Ferdinand, quoted as being 60:40 in favour of being available, would be my preferred option. However, the general consensus now being that if nether are available O`Shea will partner Smalling with Fabio coming in at full back.

Being honest, I don't think this is a risk worth taking. Leave them to rest, Liverpool have hardly been in great goalscoring form have they? I would prefer to have them 100% than to rush them back and aggrevate the injury further leading them to missing more key fixtures. I will be happy with a draw myself.
