United - Defensive Headache!

Sir Alex Ferguson faces something of a defensive crisis this weekend.

It looks very much like he`ll be without his first choice central defensive pairing with Rio Ferdinand still struggling to regain fitness and Nemanja Vidic suspended after his red card at Stamford Bridge last night.

With Chris Smalling likely to occupy one of the two places it could be a straight choice between Wes Brown and John O`Shea to partner the youngster, especially with Jonny Evans also struggling with an injury.

Matters could be further complicated with doubts existing about the fitness of Patrice Evra who also limped out of the action at Stamford Bridge.

Not ideal preparation for what is always a difficult trip to Anfield.

I would expect O'Shea RB, Fabio LB, Brown and Smalling CB's to play. Fabio has looked very good when playing and is a much better option at LB than other defenders. Whilst I would like to see Rafael play I think Fergie will opt for the experience of O'Shea which is a lot more secure defensively.

In case anyone missed it... here is my post again, from the Chelsea game article! We yiddos on vital spurs, had a good laugh when chelski won... now you guys know what it is like to get dodgy penalties against you or good ones for you not given, and lose the game as a result..... As for Fergie mouthing off at the ref... this is just the thing all other 19 clubs have been saying referees do when favouring Man Utd at Old Trafford for last 20 years!!!!
