United - Rooney Charge!

Despite Sir Alex Ferguson`s insistence that the world is determined to get Wayne Rooney and that the incident with James McCarthy doesn`t warrant any further attention that may not be the case.

The tabloid press is insistent that a charge may be on the cards and that Rooney could be looking at a four game ban.

But, they also state, that Rooney will, if charge, be pleading self-defence!

Make of that what you will!

The FA said they weren't going to charge him so i'm not too concerned about what anyone else has got to say really. It's a shame that this incident got more attention than the actual game.
TheFamousNo7
He was out of order and should of got a red card, he didnt so whatever happens subsequently wont have any effect on the game as its over
worbo
two footed challenges, elbows up, no place for them in the modern game
vic mobley
Wow, that red shirt (and maybe that red nose) do seem to make you lot immune to the laws governing everybody else.
fifthcolumnblue
P.S. My sincerest wish is that Rooney gets one back next game so I can listen to all you hypocrites screaming for the player to be banned for life.
fifthcolumnblue
If he gets banned we, he and I cannot complain, what he did was stupid. Hernandez is more than capable of filling in for Rooney. But in saying that it's the Wigan fans who have every right to be upset not these City fans who like to poke their nose's in every time something involving Utd turns up. Rooney could learn from the city players though, less elbows on the pitch and more fighting with team mates in training, now that seems to be how you create a league winning mentality, oh no wait.....

fcb it's pretty hard to not find a hypocrite in football but you guys are saints, you never do anything wrong. Also the rule is if the ref sorted out the incident at the time then the FA can do nothing about it, no further action can be taken, the FA aren't allowed to undermine the ref. Now before the FA bias b0ll0x kicks in (which it already has) the rule is set by FIFA not the FA unless you're now going to imply FIFA are bias towards us? Nope, didn't think so.
TheFamousNo7
Aah TheFamousNo7 heres some scandle for u... Have u heard of TheFamousMrClattenburg... I for one cannot believe how many matches this man has been simply bias for United, how on earth did he not even give a yellow? One wonders what was going through his head during that incident. Umm ye if I give a free kick it means Rooney gets off and Sir Alex will send me some more cheese!!!! Disgusting!
Mix26
Clattenburg bottled it. He's the one who needs to look at himself.
Wyn Mills
Lol its just convienient he consistantly bottles it for United?
Mix26
That's funny i don't recall asking for a scandal and quite frankly I really don't care for this whole thing. All the bit(hing and whining isn't getting you anywhere, the decision that governs everybody else (not undermine an officials decision) was delivered. It's funny because when Ferdinand got an extended ban so many were saying how great it was that the FA were growing a pair when they simply followed the rules and then when they follow the rules again for Rooney and they're bias. Rooney is being used as a scapegoat for something that you see day-in and day-out in football. There's countless examples of where players should've got reds but didn't, when decisions about offsides, freekicks and penalties have been made that were wrong all of which get brushed under the carpet because the clubs and players aren't quite of the same stature as ourselves. I don't blame the media for using Rooney as a scapegoat as he wasn't right in what he was doing and it sells them stories but for everyone to now jump on a media induced bandwagon after often referring to them as toiletpapers rather than newspapers really shows how hypocritical fans are. Tell me this, why is it once-England golden boy who is heavily criticised for having a bad world cup is grasping more attention than Cole who shot someone? The media are simply feeding off the common mans blind hatred for United and Rooney than Cole and Chelsea. Now tell me if we were fifth and Chelsea were 1st would it be the other way around? Will people be taking less notice of Rooney and more of Cole? Most definately.
TheFamousNo7
Lol TFN comon mate dont give us the we arent of the same stature garbage! There are kids who look up at Rooney and co. Is it now ok just to elbow an opponent in the face? Hell all John Terry had to do was shag his team mates birds and he got the chop as captain, Tiger Woods? United is the most watched football team on the planet! Time to live up to the expectations im afraid. The reason everyone is upset is not cause we blindy hate u, hell even your own fans are stating how lucky he was???? So please at least have the common decency to acknowlage his wrong doing. Let alone the countless incidents where United have been let off! If it was any other ref other than Clattenburg I may have thought diff, but how that 9unt continues to be allowed to ref in matches United play is beyond me.
Mix26
I think people did not even have to look at a newspaper to know what he did was unsporting and very dangerous! The replay shows it pretty clear. Oh and for the record and to cool your oversized ego there are many more people shouting for Cole to be dissmissed and charged!
Mix26
Mix i've said before that Rooney was not right in his actions and the he was lucky not to get a red, I have acknowledged Rooney's wrong doings and have stated I don't encourage that behaviour. Also, i'm not defending Clattenburg he seems to have the misfortune of making a meal of things. You said it yourself though, this is being made more of an issue because we are the "most watched football team on the planet" (greater stature) and we have a greater influence on the footballing world now mix that with the social expectations of a footballer and then you get a mountain out of a mole hill. You will see this incident again and again in football but never will there be the same witch hunt that has been shown here today. This is why fans need to take a look at their own players first before speaking ill of others, they may be quicker to forget as less is made of the issue.
TheFamousNo7
Fair comment TFN. I think peoples argument is more along the lines that things need to change, whether its Rooney or not. The FA has to stand up for and protect the game. U cannot have such things going on where its obvious for all to see Rooney should have seen red. I think ur point about the FA sitting tight behind thier rule book is up for debate. But I still dont believe its newspaper trash, its high time people made a point of it. But Clattenburg will forever be a (unt in my eyes lol!
Mix26
No doubt something should be done Mix mate but unfortunately change has to be made at the highest level, FIFA. The FA can only enforce FIFA rules and personally i'm all for getting Blatter out of the FIFA hotseat, the useless, despisable man.
TheFamousNo7
Apparently there is no 'rule' which says the FA cannot intervene. Its just a procedure they hide behind because they're too weak to stand up to some of the bigger clubs. The onus therefore falls on referees to do their job properly. When you have idiots like Clattenburg who don't have big enough gonads to change their minds in the face of overwhelming evidence you end up with the poor standard of officiating we have today. As for witch hunts, you think Utd are the only victims? Eduardo anyone? These days Arsenal players get sent off for accidental handball.
