United linked to Stockdale?

United linked to Stockdale?

United have been linked with several goalkeepers in recent weeks.

The impending retirement of Edwin van der Sar has sent the media into a frenzy and we`ve been linked with several top-class keepers currently playing on the continent.

But, one rumour I heard suggests that Sir Alex Ferguson and his backroom staff may well be focusing their attention on a keeper a lot closer to home.

The name of the Fulham back-up stopper, David Stockdale, has been mentioned in dispatches with it being implied that Sir Alex may well be prepared to take a punt on a youngster who has recently gate-crashed the England squad. After all, our last raid on Craven Cottage, for Chris Smalling, seems to have paid dividends.

Many of the Fulham faithful would prefer Stockdale over Schwarzer even now, so this would not go over well with the fans. Still, if United want him, you'll probably get him. 'Tis the nature of things.

I understand that Lindergaard is to adjust to the Premier League and adapt but surely we should just play him or Kuszczak rather than sign Stockdale. Stockdale is a good keep en all but surely the point of buying a keeper would be to get a proven one with CL experience.
