'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ferguson Praise for Crawley Town!

The nation, apart from us United supporters, almost got what they wanted, a day of glory for non-league Crawley Town.

The narrowest of wins saw United earn a quarter-final place but it could have been all so different if Richard Brodie`s header had of been an inch or two lower and not crashed off the bar.

In his post match interview Sir Alex Ferguson praised the non-league minnows and also had more than a gentle pop at his own under-achieving players, commenting,

"It was Crawley`s day, no question. They had more desire in the second half and we were second to every ball. They deserved a replay and full credit to them."

"We should have been three or four up after the first half, but we switched off. They were up for winning and we weren`t."

"In the second half we were not at the races, but fortunately Wes Brown had scored his goal."

"Sometimes you get breaks in cup competitions and maybe this is ours. We struggled through this round, but we`re in the quarter-finals and we move on."

Move on to Marseille where the competition will be much stiffer than that of yesterday, no disrespect to Crawley, and waiting to do a number on us if we perform as badly as we did yesterday!

Hopefully we will see more of a game, from our perspective that is, against Marseille. A really poor performance and I think nerves got to some players, Bebe and Obertan the more obvious ones. Alot of raw talent there it just really does need to be guided. Also, whoever said Fergie never says we were lucky?
