United Linked With Celtic Player

Press speculation continues to mount with regards to Manchester United bolstering the squad this summer.

Naturally with Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs approaching the end of their splendid careers, much of the speculation surrounds our midfield department.

Already we`ve discussed the reputed interest in the AS Roma player Daniele de Rossi and now the media are mentioning that Sir Alex Ferguson could be casting his eyes in the direction of the Celtic midfielder Biram Kayal.

A fee, very reasonable we might add, of 8 million is being mentioned.

Another to possibly keep your eyes on?

I would personally prefer Blackpools Adam, if we do try to replace Scholes (which I honestly believe we will fail as a team if we attempt to) and we're not splashing the cash then Adam is proven to be able to cope in the Premier League and pick out balls like there's no tomorrow for Blackpool. Also, Fergie did say he was worth 10 mil, perhaps contemplating a punt?

I've watched a fair amount of celtic games and this lad has looked impressive, people will say that the standard of football up there isn't great but when you think about it if he came to the prem he would be surrounded by better players, play in better conditions than say inverness' waterlogged pitch, have access to better coaching and facilities plus the players up there are shall we say less careful about how they tackle so if he can cope with that he would cope with a team like stoke or bolton no prob, tbh i would take him over Adam, I feel Adam will be another one of those one season prem wonders, albeit he has done very well, then move on to a bigger club and just fade away on the bench a bit like David Bentley when he went to Spurs. Besides why are we looking at these to replace one of Utds greatest ever midfielders surely the teams engine room deserves some proper investment in an actual world class player to replace an ageing world class player.

Not many players can dominate the midfield line in the manner Scholes does and anyone with that ability will cost an absolute fortune and we all know it's not "value for money". As much as I would love Fergie to spend big in replacing Scholes and Giggs with Bale and Xavi i've conceded that we are more likely to change the system in the same manner we did when Keane left or let a youngster have a go at it.
