United - de Rossi?

United - de Rossi?

It`s a rumour that has surfaced twice this week and one that doesn`t want to go away.

With there being a degree of uncertainty surrounding the future of Paul Scholes with Scholes not yet having committed to signing to stay for another season, the grapevine infers that Sir Alex Ferguson is taking a serious look at the Roma midfielder, Daniele de Rossi.

Despite the rumour becoming more prominent by the day, there has, as of yet, not been any mention of a prospective price.

One to monitor perhaps?

Like Akinfeev we have been linked with him for a very long time now and despite all the rumours we've never made a move for him, to my disappointment. Quality player not quite Scholes replacement though. We shouldn't be looking to try and replace the irreplaceable as it will inevitably fail, we should look more towards perhaps a different system in midfield or concentrate less on spraying the balls Scholes-esque style and perhap have an AM capable of splitting the defense further up the field.

Completely agree with TheFamousNo7 on de rossi he is a quality player but not the type we need which is an att mid capable of running at the opp defence and causing mayhem for them so that we end up with our front 2 becoming a front 3, Sneijder would be ideal but that would be unrealistic

Isn't De Rossi 27, I can't see Fergie going for someone at their peak age when we have Anderson maturing and getting better.
