'If It's Football, It's Vital'

United - The Successor!

Apart from in the odd benefit game, we doubt whether, following his announce of his retirement with immediate effect, we`ll not see much of Gary Neville.

That may well be the case but Gary is under no illusions as to who he views as his natural successor at right back.

Speaking to the media, Gary has picked out the young Brazilian, Rafael Da Silva, as his heir apparent, glowingly remarking,

"He`s more than capable of going on to become United`s right back for many, many years."

"His performances in the last six months in particular have been brilliant."

"He`s matured and really come of age. I remember when I was a young defender you need the time to mature and get experience."

"Rafael`s always had ability. He gets to the ball quickly, he`s aggressive, he defends his position well, he`s tough, courageous, good on the ball and provides energy in attack."

"But he`s really developed in the last six months with games and experience. He has a great attitude too."

It remains to be seen if Rafael`s United career proves to be as long and as illustrious as that of Gary`s!

He is a fantastic right back with bundles of potential. He is already showing what he is capable of defensively and attackingly by holding the likes of Bale, Ribery, Ronaldinho and Arshavin at bay whilst bombing forward whipping in crosses and getting into good positions. Slightly naive with some of his challenges but he is young and still learning.

attacking wise if he improved his crossing(ALOT) he would be unstoppable

There is still room for improvement with Rafa but what he has shown so far has been impressive, its great to see young players coming into the side and putting it up to the likes of Tevez and co on the pitch.
