United - A Reina Move?

Having already signed Anders Lindegaard, it`s no secret that Manchester United are in the market for another keeper.

With Edwin van der Sar having announced his retirement, it had been thought that the Atletico Madrid keeper, David Gea, would be the number one target, however, one leading exponent of the red-top brigade carries the inference that United could well splash bug-bucks this summer to lure the Liverpool keeper, Pepe Reina, to Old Trafford.

A fee of £20 million is quoted but the reference article also includes some quotes from the player himself that pour doubts on him remaining at Anfield, with him quoted as saying,

"Yes, well Van der Sar will hang up his gloves in the summer so of course they are looking."

"I can`t do anything. I can`t anything logically as I have a contract with Liverpool."

"Off course one likes to fight for titles and be in a team that does that."

"We always fought to be in the Champions League and try to win the title."

"But unfortunately it hasn`t been the case in the last couple of years."

"I won`t lie. I want to play in the Champions League and challenge for titles."

So are we right to surmise that if Liverpool fail to qualify for the Champions League next season, then this could be, however unlikely it may seem to be at the moment, a deal that could go ahead?

That's the problem with foreign players, as El Nino has just demonstrated... they just don't understand! So now we're a feeder club the two clubs with which we have the most passionate rivalry? Jesus H!

Then again, as the newly revived mantra has it, 'no player is bigger than the club'. "Go on then flower, I'll take the £20 million..."

No thanks, Akinfeev please.

RedShanks I think they understand perfectly that you're in no fit state to challenge for the Premier League and that they're getting no younger and so either will have to settle for challenging for 4th or show a bit of ambition, hop ship, and get the quality of football they deserve.
