Davis Being Eyed By Manchester Utd?

Reports in the Guardian suggest that Aston Villa are in talks to extend the deal that Steven Davis has with them in order to fend off any interest from Manchester United. He has three years left on his current contract which he signed last March, but Villa are thought to be wary of overtures from Old Trafford.

Sir Alex Ferguson has been linked to the 20 year old Villa and Northern Ireland midfielder before and following some impressive games this season, his interest could well be increasing. The report suggests that Utd have watched the player several times and his profile has increased since the England v Northern Ireland game. Davis who was voted Young Player of the Year last season, has been an ever present for Villa this season and has scored four goals.

Northern Ireland manager Lawrie Sanchez said recently 'What he has added to his game this season is scoring goals. If he continues to do that he can play wherever he wants to - and I don't think he would look out of place in any Premiership side.'

O'Leary seems to agree, he said that 'if Steven plays well, so do we'.
