United - In the Opposition Corner

United - In the Opposition Corner

You`ve got to feel sorry for Alex McLeish.

Coming to Old Trafford and getting beat 5-0 wasn`t exactly the best preparation for a semi-final second leg on Wednesday evening.

After the game, Alex was reflecting on the heavy defeat, had this to say,

"It was a difficult start. You can`t come to Old Trafford and lose an early goal like we did after two minutes."

"There was apprehension in the way we tried to defend it."

"There was some disparity in height between the teams but to lose a goal like that was criminal. It is as much about belief coming here as anything and we lacked that. I had one eye on Wednesday."

"You could come here and shut up shop or pick your best team and we decided we were going to go with some of the forward players."

"Sometimes you lose a bit defensively with that plan and we never got our passing game going."

Not much we can add to that, other than to wish him well against West Ham United on Wednesday evening.

I'm not going to complain the Carling Cup has made our campaign much easier.
