United - Vidic Praise from Ferguson!

United - Vidic Praise from Ferguson!

Nemanja Vidic, our club captain, has now been at the club five years.

Those five years have flown by and on the eve of the fixture with Birmingham City, Sir Alex Ferguson has praised the defender to the hilt, commenting,

"He and Patrice found it difficult to settle in the first six months and it took them a while. That happens to some players coming into the English game."

"But Nemanja is a warrior, he`s a natural defender and he loves defending."

"There have been a few defenders like him over the years and, when the ball comes into the penalty box, you know the one who wants to get it clear will be Nemanja."

And as for the perfect example of his defensive credentials, Sir Alex harked back to last Sunday when ten-man United held Spurs at bay, commenting,

"Nemanja was so powerful and positive he went for. Tottenham didn`t get any shots on goal really. We handled it really well, all the things they could throw at us."

Yet another astute Sir Alex Ferguson signing we should be really thankful for.
