'If It's Football, It's Vital'

United - Euro Dream!

It`s been suggested that Sir Alex Ferguson is driven by a desire to land that record breaking Premier League title whilst also wrapping up another Champions League triumph.

As we head towards the month of February, although there are still many pitfalls to overcome, we are on schedule to do such a deed.

The prospect of securing a Champions League title, at Wembley, certainly appeals to Wayne Rooney who, in a recent media interview chirped up,

"If we can get to the final, and possibly win it, it would be a great feeling for me as an Englishman, but also for the fans. It`s not so far for them to go! When we won the Champions League in 2008 the fans had to fly to Moscow. It would be special for them to watch us win it on home soil."

It would but isn`t some of the allure of the competition the fact that excursions onto the continent are attractive?

Continuing, and talking about one of those possible pitfalls, Rooney went on to discuss the Champions League in more detail, starting with our next opponents, Marseille,

"They are a very physical, well organized and work hard. We`re confident we can get through but we`ll have to be at our best."

Marseille were, as you probably know, in the same group as Chelsea so they shouldn`t be strangers to Sir Alex and his coaching team.

We await the tie with high expectation levels!

We are lacking in too many areas of our game to really consider ourselves strong contenders in comparison to Barca, Madrid & Milan. We still lack that DM and AM which are two big positions that need filling.
