Fifa To Investigate Rooney Red Card

Fifa To Investigate Rooney Red Card

Fifa will look into the red card given to Wayne Rooney last night.

Roo was sent off after 62 minutes for an apparent stamp on defender Ricardo Carvalho. Obviously the standard 1 game ban for the red card will stand; therefore Rooney should miss Steve McLaren's first game in charge.

A Fifa spokesman said: 'Wayne Rooney got a direct red card so he will automatically be suspended.

'It will be a disciplinary case. Like any player the committee will decide on the penalty.'

Fifa have also confirmed the reason for the straight red, Rooney being dismissed under Law 12: Violent conduct.

Enough with the attacks on Ronaldo, if Rooney could actually control his anger and didn't stomp on someone's crotch maybe he wouldn't have gotten a Red card. Ronaldo did what every player on England would have done if a Portuguese player had stomped on one of our player's groins.

m4e, he deserved to get sent off, Rooney is an absolute disgrace. You hate it when the opposition cheat and dive and get away with it and Ronaldo didn't want Rooney getting away with it, just like any English player would have done.

In some ways a ban would teach him a lesson - but I find his general language and conduct far more shocking than a stamp on the goolies.

I dunno mate...sticks and stones springs to mind but rooney is just a spoilt child thats groing up to be a complete thug. Ronaldo (although I cant stand him) had every right to question if the ref saw the stamp on the groin. People are forgetting that at that time Rooney had stamped on his portuguese team mate. And lets not let the media sway us into thinking that we lost because of Ronaldo (we love a scapegoat dont we?). We lost because we werent good enough. Every time its someone elses fault. Euro2004 was the refs fault and WC2002 was something else. Guys...you didnt really expect us to win with Sven in charge did you? Thats who you shuld blame. In fact blame the FA for hiring him.

RONNEY WASNT CHEATING HOW DO YOU FIND THAT CHEATING HE WAS ON THE GROUND FIGHTING FOR THE BALL AND CARVALHO WAS STUPID ENOUGH THAT WHEN HE FELL HE DECIDED TO PLAY AROUND WITH IT ON THE GROUND. ITS HIS OWN FAULT. I THINK IF ROONEY ACTUALLY TRIED TO STEP ON HIS NUTS THE WOULD BE SPLATTERED ALL OVER THE FIELD. WATCH THAT PART OF THE GAME AGAIN THE REF ONLY CALLED FREE KICK TILL RONALDO CAME IN AND ROONEY PUSHED HIM THEN GOT THE RED CARD AND BY THE PUSH I SAW RONALDO BARELY EVEN MOVED IT WAS A NUDGE. THE REF MADE A MISTAKE THATS ALL THERE IS TO IT IM NOT GONNA ARGUE. ACTIONS (the video) SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS GO WATCH THAT PART AGAIN REMEMBER MY EXPLANATION ON IT THEN COME SPEAK TO ME ABOUT IT.
